Spanish

Spanish is the most popular Romance language in terms of the number of speakers, and the number of countries which claim it as the official language. From its origins in Spain, trade, conquest ad colonisation carried the Spanish language carried to the new world. Today, much of Central and South America (except Brazil), Equatorial Guinea in Africa, speaks Spanish in addition to Spain. It is also the second most spoken language in the United States. There, it is gradually expanding, having currently 45 millions of speakers (more than the population of Spain). In addiction, over 6 millions of students, are turning the country into the second largest Hispanophone country in the world.

As the official language of 21 countries, Spanish gradually becomes a language popular with Chinese people. This is increasingly the case among secondary students in Hong Kong as a second language; and for adults, as a second or third language.
