English Literature (I/GCSE (Cambridge), IB SL/ HL)/ Language and Literature – Overview
Our English Literature courses and tutoring classes are available in small groups to benefit from the interaction with fellow classmates or in private classes to enjoy the undivided attention of our teachers and also learn at the student’s own pace.
The courses and lessons are designed for secondary school students in the years 9-13.

IGCSE (Cambridge / EDEXCEL / AQA / OCR)
Target Audience
For Students in Year 9/10/11
Features
Reading, interpretation and evaluation of texts through the study of literature in English
Development of an understanding of literal meaning, relevant contexts and of the deeper themes or attitudes that may be expressed
Encouragement of the exploration of wider and universal issues, promoting learners’ better understanding of themselves and of the world around them

English Literature IB SL/ HL
Target Audience
For Students in Year 12/13
Description
Literature is the same at SL and HL but there are significant quantitative and qualitative differences between the levels.
SL students are required to study 10 works, whereas HL students are required to study 13.
Two of the assessment tasks for SL are less demanding than the comparable HL tasks.

Introduce students to a range of texts from different periods, styles and genres
Develop the students’ powers of expression, both in oral and written communication
Encourage, through the study of texts, an appreciation of the different perspectives of people from other cultures, and how these perspectives construct meaning

English Language and Literature IB SL/ HL
Target Audience
For Students in Year 12/13
Description
Language and literature is the same at SL and HL, but there are significant quantitative and qualitative differences between the levels.
In the literature sections the number of texts prescribed is greater at HL than at SL.
In the language sections students are generally expected to cover many more texts of all kinds at HL than at SL.
